This is the cake I brought to Thanksgiving at Adam’s aunt and uncle’s house:

It’s the Pumpkin Spice Cake Mix from King Arthur Flour (I am such a groupie!). I bought a bundt pan specifically to use with this cake so I could get it looking like the picture on their site, and it turns out I really like the visual! Check out this shot before I flipped the cake out:

Isn’t there something so appealing about it? Bundt pans are so retro and old-fashioned, but to me they’re particularly foreign . . . although I at least had heard the term before! Unlike the woman at Bed, Bath & Beyond, who kept repeating “a BUTT pan? What?” when my cashier called to ask someone to bring her one with a bar code . . . but I digress.
The main draw of this pan was the shape of the ridges, which I was determined to cover with glaze just like in the picture. I neglected to take a post-glazing picture, unfortunately, so you’ll have to take my word for it that I glazed it and it looked good. And actually, since the glaze got ruined in transit to Thanksgiving, you only have my word for it. But I wouldn’t lie, right? The cake came out pretty good, although I would have preferred it a bit sweeter . . . maybe I should have used more glaze. Hum.
